Brigitte Grisanti New York News Story of the Day - Window Washers Saved

Two window washers who were trapped on a jammed platform 45 stories above New York City, after it snapped in the middle, were rescued by firefighters who pulled them through a window.  They were cleaning the windows of the Hearst Tower in Midtown.

Firefighters cut out a 4-foot by 4-foot piece from a glass panel on the 44th floor for the workers to climb into the 46-story.  The workers got stuck about 500 feet above the ground. A call for help came in to the fire department at about 2:30 p.m.  They were stranded for nearly two hours before they were rescued.

An investigation is under way by the New York Department of Buildings and other agencies.
About 60 firefighters from 12 companies rushed to the skyscraper to rescue the crew.  Only in New York can such a rescue take place in under two hours.  Way to go to all the members of the rescue crew.
